89 percent construction of 10 MW Siddhi Khola completed

Kathmandu – The 10-megawatt Siddhi Khola Hydropower Project, under construction by Siddhi Hydro Power Company in Suryodaya Municipality and Rong Rural Municipality of Ilam district, has achieved 89 percent physical progress.

According to Santosh Raj Nepal, Director of Siddhi Hydro Power Company, the project is now in its final phase, with significant progress made in just 18 months since construction began.

“We are in the final stages of construction, and most of the major work has already been completed within a relatively short timeframe,” said Nepal.

The project is expected to begin test production in the coming months, contributing to the national grid upon completion. Further updates on its commissioning timeline and power evacuation arrangements are expected soon.

The estimated total cost of the Siddhi Khola Hydropower Project stands at approximately Rs 1.73 billion. The project is being financed through a single loan investment from Citizens Bank International, which has contributed 75 percent of the total investment in the form of debt. The remaining 25 percent has been raised through equity investment by the promoters.

Upon completion, the project is expected to generate approximately 55.716 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually. This includes around 8.805 GWh during the winter season and 46.911 GWh during the monsoon season.

The electricity produced by the project will be evacuated to the national grid via the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Sunmai Substation, located approximately 16 kilometers from the project site.
