Gejuba Group Power Investment Nepal Pvt. Ltd. is preparing to develop the 270 MW Bhari-1 Partial Reservoir Hydropower Project in Nalgadh Municipality, located in Jajarkot District, within Karnali Province. The estimated development cost of the project is approximately Rs. 70 billion.
The main components of the project will include:
A dam,
Desanding basin,
Headrace tunnel,
Surge tank,
Penstock pipes,
A powerhouse, and
A tailrace channel.
The construction area will impact several wards:
Wards 10, 11, 12, and 13 of Nalgadh Municipality (Jajarkot)
Wards 4, 5, and 6 of Aathbiskot Municipality (Rukum West District)
Once operational, the hydropower plant is projected to produce approximately 1,567.31 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually.
To implement the project, a total of 24.075 hectares of national forest will be required (for both permanent and temporary use):
20.523 hectares from Jajarkot's national forest
3.552 hectares from Rukum West's forest area
Total Estimated Cost: Rs. 71.9716 billion
Funding Structure:
75% debt financing
25% equity investment
