Everest Bank invests Rs 136 crore in Chino Khela

Kathmandu – In a significant boost for renewable energy development in Nepal’s highlands, Everest Bank Limited has signed a financing agreement to provide Rs 1.36 billion (Rs 136 crore) for the 7.83 MW Chino Khela Hydropower Project, currently under construction in Nasong Rural Municipality, Manang.

The agreement was formalized by Sudesh Khaling, CEO of Everest Bank, and Bijay Bahadur Shrestha, Chairman of Chino Hydro Power Limited, the company developing the project. The hydropower plant is being promoted by Butwal Power Company Limited, a prominent player in Nepal’s energy sector.

This strategic investment underlines Everest Bank’s growing commitment to clean energy financing, while also supporting Nepal’s national goal of enhancing hydropower infrastructure and energy self-sufficiency.

The Chino Khela project is expected to make a meaningful contribution to the region’s economic growth, ensuring reliable electricity access and creating local employment opportunities during both the construction and operational phases.
